Students' Presentation Overview

1. An Exploration of MTC Youth Changemaker Programme on Youth Development

Project Synopsis

This project is an exploratory study that aims to better understand the impact of the Make The Change (MTC) Youth Changemaker Programme from the former MTC youth members' perspective. It seeks to uncover the former members' experiences and developmental outcomes in which they had gained from the programme, and gather their opinions on the areas in which the programme can be done differently in shaping their developmental outcomes. This study hopes that the insights gathered from the MTC youth members may not only benefit MTC, but also contribute to the existing studies of social entrepreneurship youth programmes in Singapore.

2. Community Hospitals of the Future (CHoF): Opportunities and Limitations

Project Synopsis

How will Singapore's Community Hospitals look like in the future? Working in collaboration with the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation, this qualitative exploratory study aims to investigate the opportunities and challenges in Singapore’s Community Hospitals amidst an ageing population with complex needs. These include identifying potential roles that future Community Hospitals can fulfil, and reviewing the pain points of current regulatory and financing policies. Our presentation shares preliminary findings from 4 of 16 interviews done with Head of Departments, Management and staff across 6 Community Hospitals. We will discuss the Community Hospitals' role within the healthcare ecosystem, and how it can stay agile and move in step with Singapore's changing social demographics.

3. Needs Assessment Study for Action for AIDS (AfA) Women's Love and Sexual Health (LASH) Programme

Project Synopsis

The study seeks to provide insight on young women’s knowledge and perceptions of risk factors that could increase their likelihood of contracting HIV/STI. It also examines sexual behaviours, attitudes towards HIV/STI prevention methods, and aims to identify possible trends amongst this particular age group. The results of the study would be used by Action for AIDS Singapore (AfA) for the development of a more specific HIV/STI prevention programme for women. Findings from this study would also contribute to the extant literature on women’s sexual health, especially in the local context where there is a gap in research on the knowledge and perceptions HIV/STI as well as sexual behaviours of the general younger female population.
