Our Fellow Reflections
School of Business, Management + USP
CTPCLC provided me a learning platform to be exposed to multiple social sector opportunities and experiences, without the fear that it is all part of an academic grind. I was able to meet like-minded people that come from various disciplines, learning from their perspectives and stories that they brought along with them. During the course of my studies in NUS, I was able to see theories coming into practice – Social Return on Investment (SROI) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), purely because of CTPCLC’s pedagogy in developing future generation of community leaders. My CTPCLC journey has inspired me to take up a Minor in Human Services (Social Work), and made me consider a career into the social and public sector. These are memories that I deeply appreciate when I looked back at my Undergraduate journey.
Today, apart from my work in MSF, I’m volunteering at a local grassroots network to assist in community coordination efforts on a weekly basis. This involves understanding deeply-rooted issues within a family, and depending on the complexity of the case, the targeted approach would vary as well. The aim is to provide a holistic case management for complex cases, by leveraging on coordinated efforts between Government agencies, community partners, and grassroots volunteers.
