Our Fellow Reflections
Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Social Work
CTPCLC has opened my eyes to various models of community development and, more importantly, given me a taste of the process of understanding communities through the lens of qualitative research. I appreciate how we are taught to link theory with specific social issues in Singapore and are exposed to different modes of impacting communities. Graduating from the Minor Programme does not make one an ‘expert’ in community development, but it gives us sufficient tools, ample support, and like-minded friends to grow with as budding community builders.
Being a changemaker does not always require making daunting leaps of faith! Small steps like exploring your neighbourhood, talking to residents and workers, and engaging in simple acts of service can help you develop your skills and build more confidence for further impact.
