From knowing to doing: NUS academics and students drive impact through community research (opens in new tab)
NUS Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Centre (CTPCLC) bridges academic learning with meaningful community action through research grounded in people’s lived experiences. From documenting the realities of vulnerable individuals at Waterloo Street to partnering with =DREAMS Singapore to understand the experiences and well-being of under-resourced youths, CTPCLC academics and students use community-based research to amplify voices, inform practice and translate insights into practical recommendations. As the Centre marks its 15th anniversary, these projects reflect its approach to nurturing future community leaders who can move from knowing to doing—applying critical thinking, research and empathy to build trust, work alongside communities and create meaningful social impact.
